The Springbok Connection

Claude: We shared so many memories over the years from early days at softball and baseball, where you were more than a catcher and team mate and more family than friend. I will always remember the many tours together, especially the trip to New Zealand - after the World Champs we toured the country and were accommodated by Kiwi families and together with Bugs, PJ and Clive shared the fun and camaraderie of our hosts and team mates. In later years we travelled to the US with Katie and Jannie and stayed with you, Ingrid and Nic in your home in Charlotte - this was the highlight of our trip and we had such a good time with you all that we didn't want to leave. Even then we snapped you "fixing something" when the TV was playing up - always making a plan. Ingrid was always so good at keeping in touch with the girls and this meant the guys were always in the loop and Ingrid we were always grateful for that - it seems like nothing changed - Claude you lived your life as you always had - quick to lend a helping hand and and driving family and friends to do better, to try harder and most of all to enjoy life to the full every day. Your visits back home were always a treat - Shane's wedding, our awsome Viking's reunion where we finally got most of the old team together and other visits when we had you for a short while and talked up a storm catching up with new events and reminiscing about the past. December 2011 - You and Ingrid came to Durban to meet the newest edition to the Hunt family in person and spend Grandpa Claude time with your grandsons. You couldn't sit still and were soon "making a plan" to build a jungle gymn for the kids before Christmas - Claude on the move like always! Such special times - we never knew then it would be the last time we would be together. Rest well my friend, you have surely lived every minute you were given and enriched the lives of those you have left behind - you will always be missed and never forgotten.
